| I'd like to write about the Audition paintings today. These are meant to be fairy tale dresses and designer gowns that I try to make as pretty as possible. I love the fact that everyone can and often does bring a story to these paintings. Often I'm told of what these paintings mean to the people who own them and I enjoy hearing them very much. I look at lots of my wife's discarded fashion catalogs and then I try to compose the perfect dress. Negative shapes are really important and the dresses themselves have a sculptural element to them. My goal is for them to be elegant, sophisticated, and of course, pretty. |
